We are a little off in our posts, but you can keep up by the titles of our blogs as we are using the date!
In nest number 1, we now have 4 baby purple martins. The last one hatched yesterday or early this morning. The baby purple martins were sleeping. We predict in 6 days (on May 22) the baby birds will have feathers.

A small sparrow nest with NO eggs! But, it has TONS of bugs. Mrs. Campbell is going to look into getting us something to get rid of the bugs.
We are still keeping an eye on ALL 6 of these beautiful eggs! This is our biggest nest!

Welcome to the Meadow Wood Elementary Purple Martin Blog
After almost 3 school years, we FINALLY have our first purple martins that are nesting in our pods. This is a very exciting time for our students! Each morning the second graders check the pods for sparrow nests so that they can be removed in order to help the martins. The purpose of this blog is to provide the students a chance to keep up with what is happening in the purple martin nest while they are not in school!
